Town of Essex, MA

The Town of Essex has hired NETCO, to be the Owner’s Project Manager for the renovation and restoration of their Town Hall/Library. The Essex Town Hall and adjacent Burnham Memorial Library has played a critical role in the Town of Essex for the last 120 years. Built in 1893-94, the shingle style structure is on the National Register of Historic Buildings.

The Town previously completed an approximately $1 million project to improve health, safety, and working environment for users of the building, which primarily involved interior work. However, the exterior of the building has not undergone maintenance for decades and is in severe disrepair. This exterior work will trigger various ADA requirements for the interior of the building, which may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the installation of an elevator and a fire suppression system.

The project is progressing on schedule and completion is expected early in 2017.
