The new Central Street home for the Town of Ashburnham Police, Fire and Central Dispatch Departments combined the police and fire departments into one modern building.
NETCO Construction Project Managers, Inc. was selected in early 2005 by the first Building Committee and was re-selected by a second Building Committee in late 2006 to act as the Project Managers for the facility design, bidding and construction process. Two separate building committees were required because the first design was not approved by the Town Meeting, thus a second committee was formed to take a fresh look at the project.
NETCO’s role was to focus on the building design process by developing a needs assessment, reviewing schematic drawings,and incorporating input from the Building Committee. Next, a plan was developed to coordinate generation of construction plans and specifications with the architect and the entire construction team. The key issue was to maintain budgetary discipline in the design while continuing to provide a facility that met the needs of the police and fire departments. The final tasks were to monitor the work during the construction phase and to oversee project closeout. The new AshburnhamPublic Safety Facility was completed within the agreed upon budget and schedule.
